Between six and ten consultants are expected to make-it to a shortlist after the expressions of interest deadline of May 19.

Client High Speed Two Ltd has been set-up by the government to push forward plans for a new rail network.

The detailed route between London and the West Midlands was developed in 2009 and will be the subject of an initial public consultation later this year.

This latest OJEU tender invitation involves the second stage to develop potential detailed routes for new lines between Birmingham & Manchester and between Birmingham and Leeds.

The winning consultant will have to evaluate the costs, risks and appropriate environmental, social and economic assessments.

Consultancy work on the project is expected to start in July and be completed by November 2011.
