The latest £9m design and build contract is for a new library facility on the university campus in Stratford.
The new library will consist of 40,000 sq ft of floor area divided over three floors and it will be built using high quality fair faced reinforced concrete.
Its external facade will comprise of brickwork with aluminium glazing with the library being designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’.
As a result it will include sustainable features such as photovoltaic panels, green roof areas and rainwater harvesting for WC flushing.
The design of the building also incorporates several measures to cut energy consumption and CO₂ emissions including a highly insulated airtight building fabric, lighting controls, recessed windows and a highly efficient cooling, heating and ventilation system.
