Barry McGreham is recovering in hospital following the accident on a Barhale site in central London where utility diversion work was being carried-out for Crossrail.
A Crossrail spokesman said: “As is our standard procedure following a cable strike incident Crossrail has suspended any activity which involves breaking ground such as piling or utility excavation until we are fully confident that it safe to proceed.
“Crossrail has also issued instructions to contractor sites reiterating the processes that must be followed when approving and undertaking below ground works.
“Such suspensions usually last for several days”.
