He will be replaced by Steve Crummett, who will join Morgan Sindall later this month.
Crummett was most recently the group finance director at Filtrona – the international supplier of speciality plastic and foam products – a position he held from 2008.
Prior to that Crummett (above) held senior positions in several stock market listed companies including Exel plc, Mckechnie plc and Logica plc.
Mulligan will leave Morgan Sindall in April following a short handover period.
He leaves after a period of restructuring and streamlining at Morgan Sindall Group.
Last November, Morgan Sindall group chief executive Paul Smith quit in a boardroom shake-up that saw John Morgan back in the seat as group chief executive after 10 years as chairman.
Chairman, Adrian Martin, said: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank David Mulligan for his significant contribution and commitment to Morgan Sindall over the past fifteen years.
“In his time with us, David has been instrumental in developing strong reporting disciplines and controls and has been a collaborative and supportive member of the team.”
He added: “I am delighted that we have recruited a person of Steve Crummett’s calibre as finance director. He has gained substantial and wide-ranging experience across a number of businesses and has valuable and significant skills which are relevant to Morgan Sindall as the business continues to focus on growth opportunities for the medium to longer-term.”
