Subject to planning approval, Wates will begin work in May on the 700-capacity building, which is due to be completed in September 2014.
The school has been designed using the ADAPT schools solutions approach. Facilities will also include a three-court sports hall, an external multi-use games area, as well as a dedicated sixth form centre.
Tony Shenton, business unit director for Wates Construction, North West, said: “Our extensive experience in delivering educational buildings places us as an ideal contractor for the Tauheedul Islam Boys School.”
Wates’ current education order book in the North West includes the new £5.5m Hugh Baird College in Bootle and Wirral Borough Council’s £11m project to bring together Pensby Primary School and Stanley Special School.
Construction of TIBHS has been procured through the Education Funding Agency Schools Framework.
