The Enquirer understands that Essex based logistics specialist Walsh wants to build a £10m construction consolidation centre close to the M25 and A13.
The centre would act as a hub for distributing building materials to contracts across the capital and removing waste from site.
Walsh believe their plans will dramatically cut lorry movements across London and improve efficiency across the whole London construction market.
Walsh are now looking to talk to major contractors to become partners in the scheme which could start construction as early as next year.
The centre will operate 24-7 and will be accessible by sea, river, road, and rail.
Walsh said: “We hope once we have construction partners in place to begin construction in 2014.
“Without something like this there will be a massive increase in road vehicles in London as the number of construction projects rises.
“We want to be at the forefront of innovation and step change in the way the industry operates in central London and hope contractors, clients and other stakeholders like the Mayor of London will support our vision.
“Once we have this support we can start on the build.”
