Ahead of prequalification, the Trust is planning a bidders day on 6 March to set out details of PF2 and its chosen procurement route.
A call for shortlisting potential bidders for the £285m hospital building project is then due to go out in April.
The Midland Metropolitan Hospital will be located in Smethwick, close to the boundary between Sandwell and Birmingham on a derelict industrial estate in Grove Lane .
The hospital is likely to be 8 storeys high with around 670 beds providing capacity for around 107,000 inpatients and 120,000 outpatients each year.
The NHS Trust development agency has approved the business case. A final decision is expected from the Treasury in the next few months, although the Chancellor has already mentioned the scheme in his last Autumn Statement.
Following approval and other procedures, the hospital will take up to five years to complete.
