The Enquirer has been told Ardmore, Balfour Beatty, Beck Interiors and McLaren Construction are chasing the project, which could be worth over £60m.
The conversion of the Grade I-listed Midland Bank HQ at 27 Poultry, will see the famous large bank vault featured in the James Bond film Goldfinger, transformed into a swanky underground bar.
Plans also include building a roof top swimming pool and bar in the 255-room hotel, which will be run by the SoHo house group
The historic property, built between 1925-1939, is considered to be architect Sir Edwin Lutyens’ finest commercial building.
