The firm has bought key operations in Byley, Cheshire and Drakelow, Staffordshire strenthening its product range particularly for the civil engineering industry.
The deal draws a line under an uncertain few weeks for Buchan’s 300 staff who have seen the pre-cast firm first fall into administration, be bought in a pre-back deal by a management-buyout team led by owner Rob Brown and now be sold to the industry’s biggest pre-cast producers.
It is understood that all of Buchan’s business have been sold, except the firm’s wire and mesh arm.
A Buchan employee told the Enquirer: “Its been a difficult few weeks but it think it is fair to say we are all happy to be with the industry’s biggest player now.”
The deal will take FP McCann’s headcount to over 1,300 with operations at manufacturing plants at Alnwick (Northumberland), Ellistown (Leicestershire), Cadeby (Warks), Telford (Shropshire), Littleport (Cambridgeshire), Lydney (Gloucestershire), Grantham (Lincolnshire), Weston Underwood (Derby) and Knockloughrim (Northern Ireland) as well as Byley and Draklow.
