It will be Highgate Holdings’ first hotel in London forming part of a major expansion plan in the capital to build 20 hotels, building on a portfolio of 40,000 hotel bedrooms globally.
The 319,000 sq ft Highgate Shoreditch Hotel proposal comprises a 200-room hotel, as well as around 130,000 sq ft of commercial space, which will include creative office space with shared amenities.
The project, which will replace Chariots sauna and Majestic Wine Warehouse on Shoreditch High Street, is due to break ground in the second quarter 2016.
A contractor has still to selected to deliver the building, which has been structurally designed by Expedition Engineering with Meinhardt (UK) are aboard as M&E consultants.
The Highgate Shoreditch Hotel will be complete by the end of 2018.
Designed by architect Gensler, big glass façades are framed with black steel in an exposed concrete structure seen as fitting in Shoreditch area.
