Cardiff University picks preferred contractors

The University of Cardiff has selected its preferred contractors to deliver a work programme estimated to be worth £15m – £90m over the next four years.

ISG has ranked top among the six contractors selected for larger projects valued up to £10m.

The university’s new framework will be used to deliver both major and minor new-build and refurbishment works as its delivers a 10-year masterplan.

Main Contractors and M&E Services Framework

Building projects £1.5m-£10m: ISG,  Vinci Facilities, Galliford Try, Willmott Dixon, Morgan Sindall, BAM Construction

Building projects up to £1.5m: Knox & Wells, Encon Construction, Ian Williams, R & M Williams, Bect Building Contractors, Contract Services (South Wales), Keepmoat Regeneration, Bray And Slaughter

Combined M&E £500,000 – £5m: Tremorfa, Lorne Stewart, SSE Contracting, CMB Engineering

Mechanical services up to £350,000: Lorne Stewart, Solvit (Wales), F P Hurley & Sons, Source Site Services, SSE Contracting

Electrical Services up to £350,000: A J Crews & Co, Source Site Services, SSE Contracting, Lorne Stewart, Tremorfa, MDT Electrical, Phillips Services (Wales)

Cardiff University is in the middle of a major development plan at its Maindy Road site.

This will see up to four new buildings delivered over coming years, including two at the planned Translational Research Facility, which will carry out research in compound semiconductors, and one known as Innovation Central, which will support start ups.
