The £18m deal will see Keepmoat build mixed-tenure homes starting work on site in spring 2017.

Under the deal with Edinburgh City Council, Keepmoat will build 184 council homes for rent and 250 sq m of commercial shell space within two and a half years from award of contract.

It will also pay the council £3.2m for land to develop 132 private homes for sale concurrently with the council housing to ensure maximum regeneration benefit.

All homes will be energy efficient and tenure blind across the development in terms of materials and appearance, and will be fitted with PV panels.
