Issues with the cladding on one of the three buildings on Cygnet Wharf at the Brayford Campus were uncovered following a post-Grenfell review of the university’s estate.
The tallest was understood to be in the process of being fitted with at risk cladding.
Now the contractor is stripping the cladding to replace it with a new safety-approved material before any students move in.
A spokesman for the University of Lincoln, said: “As part of the review, we have also looked at the materials used in buildings currently under construction.
“It was identified that cladding on a small proportion of one of the buildings within our new Cygnet Wharf accommodation development did not meet newly issued Government guidance. We have immediately begun work to remove the cladding and replace it with a suitable material, prior to it being occupied.”
The Cygnet Wharf scheme is located on the south bank of the Brayford Pool and will provide 442 new study bedrooms over three buildings.
