Rival bidders told the Enquirer that McLaren has been chosen by client intu for the job.
That means Sir Robert McAlpine, ISG and Sisk have lost out this time.
One source said: “It seems like McLaren have got the nod on this one.
“Nothing has been said officially but you know when you’ve lost a job and this one is heading their way.”
Work will centre on the western entrance to the Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock.
It will be part-demolished and reconfigured to contain new retail outlets plus a new entrance and a boardwalk alongside the lake.
McLaren is also understood to have won a £50m extension to the Ashford Centre in Kent
McLaren declined to comment.
