So farewell Slaven Bilic and hello David Moyes.

A picture of Moyes in his playing days should be enough to terrify the West Ham squad
A picture of Moyes in his playing days should be enough to terrify the West Ham squad

The latest saviour of West Ham is being hailed/damned with all the usual stereotypes – dour, hard taskmaster, no nonsense etc etc.

It looks like Moyes’ initial strategy is to get the players fitter and drill some defensive organisation into them.

Who’d have thought this football management game would be so hard?

The Hammers first game under the new regime is away at Watford and the players will surely have to show some kind of response to a new manager.

It’s also not a bad time to be playing the Hornets who are facing a few key injuries and are in the midst of their own mini slump.

They have been beaten in their last three Premier League games including defeats to Everton and Stoke.

If your first game as new West Ham boss had to be away then the short trip to Vicarage Road isn’t a bad one.

Moyes will set his side up not to do anything daft in the first 30 minutes then see if his flair players can start delivering.

It’s not rocket science but a bit of shape and direction may be all the Irons need to kick start their season.

The bookies are offering a tasty looking 5/2 on a West Ham away win and that looks a decent punt to keep our very healthy looking season total ticking along in the right direction.
