The new car park is being built because existing parking facilities will need to be demolished to make way for the new £200m rail transit link to the airport.
The proposed five-level car will be located on the site of the existing short term car park, located in the central terminal are of the airport.
The design outlined by project architect IDOM UK is expected to use a steelwork frame with the car park finished off with cladding.
It is the second major car park scheme planned for the site. Last month specialist Raised Floor Solutions’ Metpark division completed work on a new 1,700 space multi-storey car park.
The proposed second scheme is being project managed by Turner & Townsend will be larger and more complex involving modifications to an existing road for an underground pedestrian access route.
Firms have until the end of January to submit bids with the airport aiming to fast-track the scheme for work to start in June.
