To be named Leeds Skelton Lake Services, the project has been designed with exposed long-span glulam timber beams and a ‘living green roof’ to blend with the natural landscape.
Extra MSA Group’s new-look motorway services facility will also include a new food court-style building, which will provide a wide range of food and ancillary retail outlets, a business centre, filling station and 100-bed hotel.
There will also be an upper-floor viewing deck overlooking Skelton Lake and the surrounding landscape.
Work will start shortly and will sustain 400 jobs during the construction phase.
Morgan Sindall’s managing director for the North, Barry Roberts, said: “We are really excited about working with Extra to deliver this phase of the project, realising the vision that has been set out by our customer.
“This is a major investment for the region and we will do everything we can to support and work closely with Extra to create jobs and offer opportunities to local people and companies during the construction works.”
The project is due to be completed in time for a Summer 2019 opening.
