Mark Tant, currently managing director for Wates Residential, London, is promoted to a newly-created role of managing director of Wates Construction, overseeing all regional business units.
He will report to construction group managing director Paul Chandler.
Tant joined Wates from Shepherd four years ago steering Wates’ private residential projects at major London schemes, including at Greenwich Peninsula and Wembley Park.
As a result of the move the MD of Wates residential north, Richard Shroll, heads south to fill Tant’s London role.
There are also promotions for regional business unit directors Paul Dodsworth and John Carlin.
Dodsworth takes the new role of regional managing director of Construction North. As well as overseeing both North East and North West regions, his role will include responsibility for the region’s residential business.
Carlin is promoted to the role of regional managing director for Construction Midlands. His move reflects the growth of the region, with turnover heading towards £160m for 2019, from projects such as at Birmingham’s The Bank residential development and the £135m Axis Square development in the city centre.
All appointments will be effective from 1 January 2019, with the new regional MDs reporting to Tant.
Paul Chandler, MD of Wates Construction Group, said: “Wates Construction has enjoyed an extremely positive year, and as we head towards the end of 2018, we have experienced sustained improvements in financial performance, as well as a year-on-year rise in the value of projects on which we embark.
“These appointments leave us ideally placed to deliver continuous, profitable growth across our national construction business.”
