The scheme forms part of the regeneration partnership between the local council and Muse to transform Stockport town centre.

Piling is just getting underway for the 2 Stockport Exchange office project, which will rise to six-storeys and offer 60,000 sq ft of space when completed in February 2020.

The building will be constructed next to 1 Stockport Exchange which was built by Eric Wright Construction.

Greg Ball, development surveyor at Muse Developments, said: “This is yet another significant milestone in the evolution of Stockport Exchange and it’s exciting to be celebrating the start of construction on this latest scheme, which will complement the successful previous phases.

“This development will further reinforce Stockport Exchange as South Manchester’s new pre-eminent business location and we’re looking forward to seeing construction progress over the coming months.”

Marc Banks, commercial director at GMI Construction Group plc, said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our strong relationship with Muse and Stockport Council, and starting work on this major development.

“This scheme will further enhance Stockport’s new central business district and we’re pleased to be part of the team creating a new gateway to Stockport town centre.”

Once complete, the wider Stockport Exchange development will deliver up to 375,000 sq ft of office space and 28,000 sq ft of commercial floor space.
