Extraspace’s contract at Greenfield Primary School includes a new build after demolition of the old school while at The Oldham North Academy it will provide a new three-storey extension, dining hall extension and refurbishment works.
At Crompton House Church Of England School Extraspace will create a new three-storey teaching block and dining hall extension.
Phillip Hutton, Business Development Director at Extraspace Solutions said: “Any building project can be demanding, but for schools these challenges can be exacerbated, especially when working on a site where students are still present.
“The offsite construction element is vital to success, with schools able to fully operate whilst major construction works are proceeding.
“The vastly reduced project timeframe compared to traditional methods is of great, almost priceless importance.”
Oldham Council & Unity Partnership, who provide direct professional services to the Council, have been a driving force in the adoption of modular construction methods.
On previous projects at Northmoor and Hollinwood Academies, also delivered by Extraspace Solutions, Oldham Council & Unity Partnership were fully integrated as part of the project team, a factor crucial to the delivery of the high profile schemes.
Project Manager for Unity Partnership, Ian Foy stated: “We are delighted to work with Extraspace and their integrated project team to deliver such exciting high profile educational facilities within Oldham.
“We are embracing modular construction methodologies as they provide a solution that delivers predictable quality that maximises time and budget efficiencies.”
