Liverpool John Moores University has picked Willmott Dixon for a £20m overhaul of its School of Nursing and Allied Health, and the Avril Robarts Library.

The main contract is scheduled to begin next month on the nursing school’s Tithebarn building with completion set for March 2021.

The Tithebarn Building will be extended and refurbished, with Avril Robarts Library undergoing a complete refurbishment.

Awarded through the Scape framework, the Tithebarn Street project in the heart of the city centre is part of LJMU’s estates masterplan.

This includes delivering a Student Life Building and Sport Building on Copperas Hill, a  new Pavilion at Aldham Robarts Library and School of Education building on Maryland Street.

Anthony Dillon, managing director for Willmott Dixon in the north, said: “This further builds on our recent track-record in the north that includes delivering the Schuster annex for University of Manchester.

We have delivered over £100mof work in Liverpool in recent years and our local team are really looking forward to working with LJMU to deliver this next phase of their exciting growth and, in the process, sustain regional companies and jobs with our ‘local pound’ commitment.”
