A BAE spokesperson confirmed he had left the company for “personal reasons.”
Wolstenholme joined BAE as a group managing director in May 2018.
He stepped down after seven years at the helm of Crossrail in March 2018.
Wolstenholme was lauded as he left the project which was still being described at that time as “on time and on budget”.
Since then it has been confirmed Crossrail is £2.8bn over budget and will not be open until 2020 at the earliest while Wolstenholme has faced a series of grillings from MPs over his role in the delays and cost overruns.
