Group commercial director John Foster has resigned just six months after joining the AIM-listed ground engineering contractor from Saint-Gobain, where he was commercial director for the group’s Building Façade Contracting interests

His departure follows the recent resignation of chief financial officer Paul Pearson and group sales director Philip Norville.

Paul Simpson, operations director for one of the smaller group businesses, is also understood to have left Van Elle to join Keller.

Cutler joined Van Elle last August and set about implementing a transformation programme to simplify the piling firm’s structure, reduce overheads and improve contract performance.

This saw the main operating structure reduced from eight to five divisions.

In the latest move to save costs, several administration and support staff have gone in recent weeks and it is understood design is to be outsourced to a third party.

Van Elle is expected to report its full-year results in the next few weeks.
