Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has shortlisted five developers to build a 300,000 sq ft residential scheme at Lord’s Cricket Ground in St John’s Wood, London.
The shortlisted companies are:
The development, along the eastern side of the ground on Wellington Road, is expected to substantially fund the first phase of MCC’s £400m ’Vision for Lord’s’.
In addition, the partner will work with MCC in making a planning application to Westminster City Council.
Subject to achieving planning permission, the aim is to start work on site after the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, when Lord’s will host the archery competition
Keith Bradshaw, MCC’s secretary & chief executive, said: “Our decision to seek a development partner is driven by the club’s fundamental objective of maintaining and enhancing the reputation of Lord’s as the pre-eminent cricket ground in the world and the global home of cricket.
“We had a first class international response from development companies and we now look to move to the next stage of delivering the Vision for Lord’s.”
In arriving at the shortlist, MCC has been advised by Cushman & Wakefield.
No timetable has been set for the project
