Developers manchester Airports Group and Azure Properties hope it will be one of the region’s greenest hotels, using several sustainable construction techniques to deliver an 87% reduction in CO2.
The hotel will utilise an on-site combined heat and power plant fueled by plant oil.
This will export electricity to the national grid outside of normal occupancy hours. This innovative system will also collect and store any waste heat generated in a thermal store, which will be used to heat and cool the whole hotel.
The Azure Property Group will operate the hotel when the Radisson Blue opens by summer 2011.
