The £40m design and build school job will bring Port Glasgow High and St Stephen’s High together on a shared campus in Inverclyde.
The design team for the two 460 pupil secondary schools will be novated to the successful contractor.
Contract includes all external works, demolition of the existing school building and off site roads works.
The proposals also include the development of a refurbished primary school on the site of the current Overton Primary School, which will allow the amalgamation of Highlanders Academy Primary and Overton Primary and their associated nurseries.
Construction is scheduled start in October 2011, after demolition of the existing of existing Port Glasgow High School, and take around 22 months.
To enable work to commence on the new shared campus, Port Glasgow High School will be decanted to St Stephen’s High School in summer 2011.
To accommodate both schools temporary classrooms will be positioned in the grounds of the school.
