The project to incorporate a women and children’s super centre will involve building a major four-storey block and refurbishing existing wards in the main hospital.
The joint venture known as Integrated Health Projects will build delivery rooms, obstetric theatres, a paediatric theatre, more maternity beds and a brand new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
This is the largest capital investment made to date by the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and is the fourth project IHP have undertaken for the same client under the NHS ProCure 21 method of procurement.
Graham Lord, head of Estate Development for the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with IHP following the approval of the Phase 3 Development at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
“IHP have already completed three large schemes for the Trust and we have established a good working relationship with the contractor and their team and look forward to another successful project.”
