Four of its operations -Lumsden & Carroll Construction, Dunelm Property Services, Stephen Easten Building and Wilkinson Facilities Services – have bought 84 new vans from suppliers Arnold Clark, Benfield Motors and North East Truck & Bus.
The vehicles purchased represent around 45% of Esh Group’s total van fleet and include:
· 17 Ford Fiestas (econetic)
· 18 Ford Transits short wheel based (econetic)
· 29 Ford Transits long wheel based
· 18 Volkswagen Caddy and Crafters
· 2 Iveco tippers
The thirty five Ford ‘econetic’ vehicles feature the latest fuel efficiency technology which studies within Esh Group have suggested will lead to average annual fuel savings of at least 25%, which at current pump prices represents £29,000 annually.
In addition all new vehicles are being fitted with speed restrictors which will lead to further fuel savings and improved Health & Safety.
John Davies, Group Operations Director, Esh Group said: “These deals clearly represent significant expenditure for Esh Group. We’ve researched this thoroughly and we are projecting savings of up to £150,000 annually in reduced running costs and fuel savings alone.
“All of the suppliers we’ve chosen are worthy winners of the business; they’ve provided us with excellent support so far and we’re looking forward to working with them going forward.”
