The North East Improvement and Efficiency Partnership is inviting bids from firms to join a series of framework agreements covering construction, repairs and consultancy across three regions: Northumberland and Tyne & Wear; Durham and Tees Valley; and Gateshead over the coming months.
The lead councils have put Gateshead-based North Eastern Purchasing Organisation in charge of the procurement of the four-year framework.
The council’s hope to make big savings and reduce the time to market for appointing contractors and estimate they will save £35m over the four-year term on new building work in the region.

Sunderland Council is inviting bids for the repairs and maintenance framework across the north east, estimated to be worth around £88m over four years. PQQs must be returned by the start of April.
North Tyneside Council is currently tendering the consultancy agreement, accounting for an annual spend of around £3m.
The framework will come into operation in the Autumn.
