The two high-rise 1960s tower blocks, Stanley House and Mersey House, will be completely overhauled. The plans include building two extra extra floors of penthouse flats, taking them up to 16 storeys.

Contractor Kier is presently carrying out similar improvements to two other similar blocks of flats in the area.

Turner and Townsend is handling the procurement as cost consultant for the the social housing landlord.
