Under the contract the firm will lay all brick and blockwork on the £600m Birmigham Gateway project.

The firm is among a number of specialist contractors to secure big work packages on the job in recent weeks.

Stannah Lift Services has just been awarded a £3.5m contract to install lifts.

Building services firm Bailey has won a £7.9m contract for M&E works for the control room, platform 12 and Hinterland on the Birmingham Gateway project.

While VolkerFitzpatrick will carry out alterations to platform 12 under a £3.2m contract.

A £4.5m package for station concourse floor finishes is currently out to tender.

New Street station video fly-through

This month contractors will start on the construction of the striking New Street Gateway entrance.

This will open at the completion of Phase 1 of the project in 2012 when the first half of a redeveloped New Street station opens to passengers.

Upon completion of the project in 2015, the new Stephenson Street entrance will also be served by the Midland Metro extension from Snow Hill.
