Sainsbury’s bought out previous owner Ballymore’s interest in the project, before teaming up with developer Helical Bar to progress the Townmead Road and the adjacent Fulham Wharf scheme.
The Fulham Wharf scheme, expected to cost up to £100m to build, will transform an existing Sainsbury’s supermarket and derelict warehouses into a new superstore wrapped by 472 homes, two new public spaces, an extension to the public riverside and a new ecological garden on an abandoned jetty.
The housing will be a mix of townhouses around the Sainbury’s store with four towers situated on the river front rising to between 9 and 17 storeys.
