Adams will leave CSCS at Christmas to “pursue outside interests and to work only part time from the new year.”

The hunt for a successor will now begin and Adams has confirmed that he will be available to ensure an effective handover beyond Christmas if necessary.

A statement from the CSCS Board said: “We want to sincerely thank Brian for his leadership and contribution to the scheme and wish him every success for the future.”
