Barhale Construction will start infrastructure work later this month building roads and drainage to pave the way for McCarthy & Stone and Bloor Homes to start work in the spring.
The development plans for the 31 acre site also feature a Tesco supermarket, a care home, pub, public square, café, restaurant and medical centre.
McCarthy & Stone has been granted planning permission to build 47 retirement homes. The proposed scheme will comprise 32 one-bedroom and 15 two-bedroom retirement apartments, as well as a communal lounge, laundry, refuse area, guest suite, manager’s office and 24 parking spaces.
Bloor Homes has detailed planning permission to build 36 homes comprising a range of two, three, four and five bedroom properties.
Bob Nicholson, senior project manager for Pochin Developments, said: “Pochin has been involved in the redevelopment of the former creamery site for five years, and it is fantastic to have secured these planning permissions which will enable work to progress further on site.
“The land sales to Bloor Homes and McCarthy & Stone are important parts of the jigsaw that will help to bring this exciting redevelopment project to fruition.”
