The new store is due to open in late 2012 and will create around 70 jobs during construction.
Cheshire East Council’s Southern Planning Committee is expected to approve Huddersfield firm Radcliffe Developments and the supermarket giant’s plans to build the store at the old Boosey’s garden centre and Middlewich Auto garage which will be knocked down.
A report recommending approval by planning officers says: “The proposed development will serve to increase competition and choice for residents of Middlewich.
The current plans suggest the store will be around 26,000 sq ft a reduction from the first planned design which was for a larger Morrisons store.
As part of the deal, Morrisons is to make a £25,000 contribution to improve local bus services.
