The deal, which is expected to be worth up to £560m over the next four years, has been broken up into a dozen separate packages.
The Highway Agency said it expects to appoint up to 50 firms to cover the country’s road network, which main contractors will be expected to use when carrying out maintenance.
Its lucrative roads management framework is broken down to cover the main regions like Scotland and the North, the Midlands and Wales, and agency’s southern and eastern regions.
In addition to that the huge management framework will also be subdivided into separate lots covering the country’s temporary traffic management on motorways and highways.
The agency has given interested firms until 21 December to complete PQQs.
