European Metal Recycling and IES Environmental Solutions’ plant will be one of the UK’s largest facilities dealing with post shredder residues from end-of-life vehicles.

The plant will recover metals, plastics and aggregates from the residues for reprocessing.

It will have the capacity to process around 350,000 tonnes of material a year, leaving just just 5,700 tonnes of waste material to be sent to landfill.

The remaining material will be treated using gasification to generate electricity.
