B&K wins £22m Derby velodrome race

Bowmer & Kirkland has been confirmed by Derby City Council as the winner of a £22m contract to build a velodrome and sports arena.

B&K beat competition from Bam Construct, Galliford Try, Interserve and Morgan Sindall for the job.

The project has been designed by Mace and will be built next to Derby County’s Pride Park stadium creating a 5,000 seater arena with velodrome cycle track.

The site must now pass contaminated land tests by the Environment Agency before work is expected to start this autumn ahead of completion in summer 2014.
