Eighty-one staff were laid off within Daniel Contractors relating to the company’s smaller contracts and some head office functions, and a further 43 redundancies from Land and Marine.
Deloitte said it had reached agreement with two of the three main customers of Daniel Contractors to continue to trade the business with the intention that the contracts and associated employees will transfer to another contractor shortly.
These are understood to be United Utilities and Bristol Water.
As a result of this 990 jobs look to have been safeguarded.
Administrators are also now examining the possibility of selling the Land & Marine Project Engineering business.
Bill Dawson, joint administrator and partner in Deloitte’s Restructuring Services team, said: “We have managed to safeguard most of the jobs and are looking to pursue further deals which could help to save more jobs.
“However, we regret that the financial situation of the group has meant that a number of redundancies have had to be made.”
