He will will leave Leadbitter on July 2nd this year.
Rendell acquired Leadbitter from his father in 1985 when it had an annual turnover of £300,000 and just five employees.
He has overseen the company’s growth to a turnover in excess of £400m and over 700 employees.
Rendell said “Whilst it had been an extremely difficult and emotional decision, I now feel that the time is right to retire in order to have the time to pursue some of my long held personal goals and my passion for sailing including an Atlantic crossing later this year”.
Rendell successfully led the sale of the Leadbitter Management teams’ shareholding to Bouygues last year.
He said “In what continues to be an extremely challenging environment for the UK construction market Leadbitter could not have a better or more responsible parent.
“Bouygues are an excellent and extremely strong international business with very serious intentions for the UK and under the leadership of Bouygues UK chairman Madani Sow I am certain they will continue to go from strength to strength”.
Madani Sow, Chairman of Bouygues UK said “I would like to thank Bob for the support he has given us since the acquisition and in particular assisting us with the smooth transition of the Leadbitter group into our business.
“On behalf of everyone at Bouygues UK, I wish him a long and happy retirement and every success in achieving the personal goals he is about to embark on.”
