Intense sun rays from the concave facade of the building, which is still under construction, have been reported by passersby at street level by for several weeks.
But London’s business paper City AM reported that the intense light has now damaged a high-spec Jaguar XJ.
Martin Lindsay, director of a tiling company, told the paper he was distraught to see the warped panels along the side of his Jaguar.
He said: “They’re going to have to think of something. I’m gutted. How can they let this continue?”
Eddie Cannon, a heating and air conditioning engineer, said his Vauxhall Vevaro had also suffered similar damage.
Affected car parking spaces have been now been suspended.
Developers Land Securities and Canary Wharf said: “We are aware of concerns regarding the light reflecting from 20 Fenchurch Street and are looking into the matter.
“As a precautionary measure, the City of London has agreed to suspend three parking bays in the area which may be affected while we investigate the situation further.”
