The Paul Street scheme includes 419 student accommodation rooms and communal areas, along with 43,000 square feet of office space.
The three new blocks will replace a derelict office building and former car park on the site.
Works involve the careful demolition of the existing buildings and partial basement excavation whilst maintaining a live UKPN substation during the works through phased provision of temporary transformers.
The blocks will be built using reinforced concrete and clad in a mix of reinforced concrete and glazed cladding panels and masonry brickwork.
Internally the office layout will be fitted out to category A specifications, using the exposed concrete structure as the finish with carefully coordinated exposed services to soffits.
The student rooms will utilise prefabricated bathroom pods.
Phil Pringle, Managing Director, McLaren Construction, said: “We are very pleased to have been instructed by McLaren Property and Apache Capital on this project, which sees us furthering our influence in the London mixed-use sector and especially, commercial office and student accommodation schemes, building on the recent successful completions of Marble Arch House for British Land and Paris Gardens for McLaren Property.”
Work is now underway and the whole scheme is due for completion during the summer of 2015 ahead of the academic year.
