This latest phase after building the Shard and The Place building will comprise a 160,000 sq ft, 27 storey, residential block of 150 apartments.
James Sellar said: “This exciting project continues the regeneration of the area around London Bridge Station, building on the success of both The Shard and The Place as well as the significant improvements we have already made to the station concourse and bus station.
“We believe the proposed development will not only further enhance LBQ in its present form but will substantially elevate the public realm surrounding the transport hub and complement the redevelopment of the station which is due to complete in 2018.”
The development will also offer new public space and a new multi-level retail space.
Renzo Piano, who designed The Shard and The Place for Sellar, is architect for the plans, which are being developed in partnership with the State of Qatar. WSP is the engineer for the job.
It will be built on the site of Fielden House, a 1970s, 4 storey office building on London Bridge Street (pictured below beside the Shard).
The new tower will be located between The Shard and The Place, and 21-27 St Thomas Street below.
A planning application will be submitted shortly, following feedback from the public at this week’s consultation.
