Wiltshire Council is planing to invite bids at the end of April for a major leisure and sports scheme.

The council has just started pre-tendering to shortlist potential bidders for the job to redevelop Melksham House on a 14.7 acre town centre site.

The building complex, designed by Bath-based DK Architects, will provide a swimming pool, sports centre, six rink bowls facility, library and cafe.

A new home for Melksham Cricket Club and Melksham Tennis Club are also included, along with the redevelopment of Melksham House.

Wiltshire Council’s planning department is expected to deliver final approval shortly.

Roy While, chairman of the Melksham Community Operation Board, said, “We are hoping for approval in late spring, which will enable a start to be made on the Melksham House element of the project during the summer.”

Interested firms must complete a pre-qualification questionnaire using the Supplying the South West eSourcing portal.
