The job includes demolition of the existing building to make way for a 120,000 sq ft complex with building heights ranging up to six storeys.
The new building will act as a main reception for the university’s other campuses offering dance and theatre space and a library.
Kingston University has appointed Grafton Architects to design the proposed new building, which will consist of unusual open colonades along two of the building’s elevations.
The university will use a two-stage tender process, shortlisting five firms to tender in July for the project which is expected to cost £20 to £30m to build.
A contract is due to be award in January 2015 for work to start next summer.
