Next month Balfour Beatty and rival Laing O’Rourke will submit bids to design, build, finance and maintain the planned 350-bed hospital under the Scottish Government’s non-profit distributing model.
Balfour beat RJ McLeod, Barr, I&H Brown and Fox Building and Engineering to the road job, which will see an upgrade of the Garroch roundabout on the A75.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway aims to appoint a preferred bidder for the hospital build in the late summer.
It hopes to start work in 2015 at a site near the town’s bypass at Garroch Farm.
