The scheme will bring all emergency services, which are currently spread out across the New Cross site, under one roof.

Works includes the construction of a three-storey emergency department containing the new A&E department, wards and admin space.

O’Brien started on site this week under a £2.5m groundwork package to prepare the site for main construction work.

The planned opening date for the new department is November 2015.
