Designed by architect Hopkins to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, the three-storey building is set around a curved central atrium that brings natural light to its core.
Other facilities including research and teaching laboratories, offices, lecture theatres, a café and library will be located in two wings either side of the main building.
Phase one of the building work is due to start shortly and comprise around 3,660 m2 of development.
Phase two will involve another 3,293 m2 of construction, with the project due to complete in 2015.
