The South of M4 Consortium – which includes the University of Reading, Taylor Wimpey and BDW Trading Limited – is developing the massive new town.
And the planned Shinfield Eastern Relief Road and M4 overbridge will help unlock the site.
Hochtief is due to start the scheme in January, which will link the A327 south of Shinfield with the Black Boy roundabout.
The investment will also provide an early access route for the University of Reading’s planned Science and Innovation Park, near Shinfield.
