Parts of the collapsed building rained-down on the victim and a parked taxi on Monday afternoon during heavy winds.
Humberside Police said: “East Riding of Yorkshire Council and specialist engineers are today at the scene of an incident where a 61-year-old man died after a section of a building collapsed on Cliff Road in Bridlington.
“A full structural assessment of the building is due to be carried out and a police cordon is expected to remain in place and the road closed until further notice to ensure public safety.
“A post mortem examination of the man who died will be carried out later and a file will be submitted to the coroner.”
